DBDesigner connection problem to MySQL database solved!

For those of you who are having trouble using DBDesigner (-Ver 4.0.5.6-) to connect to a MySQL database (-Ver 4.1.14- or higher), I’ve managed to find a solution.

Problem:
Always receive "Invalid Username/Password" error message when connecting to an existing MySQL database from DBDesigner, even if username and password is correct:

DBDesigner "connect to database" error message

Solution:
Change you password using the following command line:
mysqladmin.exe -u root -p old-password [pswd]

Where [pswd] is your new password.

For example:
mysqladmin.exe -u root -p old-password new_pswd
Enter password: ********

(new_pswd = new password you want to set to user "root")

Apparently, the problem lies in the way passwords are stored in MySQL…

Anyway, here’re some URIs that I’ve found when I was searching for this solution:
(Search for "old-password new-password")
