Microsoft Photosynth

Microsoft Photosynth logo
, this looks like another really cool piece of software up there with the likes of Google Earth (link):

So what is it?  Well, (when it comes out…) it’s going to allow you to re-construct various places you’ve taken photos of in a virtual 3-D environment.

From watching the videos, the team plans to enable some sort of a cross-referencing system where photos taken by others will be combined with your own to produce a highly detailed virtual environment.

You can check out the videos from the 2 URLs below (videos are 1280 x 720 in size and about 160 MB a pop):
Video 1 (Product overview)
Video 2 (Product demo!)

If you want smaller versions, they are on the following pages:

So I guess my holiday plans will involve first flying around in Google Earth and then browse around on the ground in the shared libraries of Microsoft Photosynth – Definitely beats queuing at the airport security and sitting on a plane for hours,  !

Pirate joke

A pirate walks into a bar and has a steering wheel hanging off his testicles.

The bartender goes, "Hey you got a steering wheel on you testicles…".

The pirate replies, "Yarrh, and they’re driving me nuts!"

(Thanks Alex and Kevin (from Diggnation) for that joke!)

Why Geeks and Nerds are worth dating

For any of you girls out there who aren’t sure whether you should date a "geek" / "nerd", I think you should check this page out – it gives you a list of reasons why you should go for them!

While I’m not sure who wrote this article, but the article does seem to describe me geeks / nerds correctly (though I might need to work on number 6 – remembering calendar dates…  If you know me, you’d know what I mean…).

Mozilla Firefox update -Ver 1.5.0.5-

Mozilla Firefox logo

It’s that time again – no, not Patch Tuesday – but Firefox update!  1.5.0.5 is out.

This update mainly addresses several vulnerabilities (again…) (link) (kinda like the last one, and the one before…)

Anyway, you can get the update at the Firefox homepage:

You can take a look at the release notes here:

The reason behind the lack of activity…

No, I haven’t disappeared from the face of the earth since my last post on the 6th!

The reason for the lack of activities on my blog recently is because I’ve started my university professional placement year at a company called BTS (link) and… well, I just simply don’t have a lot of time during the week to do my own stuff…

But that’s not to say I’m abandoning my blog – I’ll still update it with stuff I find interesting and, if anyone’s interested (and wants me to), maybe even a bit of my personal life.

So yeah, as always, if you got anything you’d like me to talk about / rant about here, drop me a comment (or get in contact with me).

(Actually… if you have anything to say about my blogs, drop a comment – that way at least I know someone is really reading my blog…)
