Upgrading Xubuntu 7.04 to 7.10 (CD-ROM execution error)

Just in case if you see the following error when you run the Xubuntu upgrade:
$ sudo /media/cdrom/cdromupgrade &
sudo: unable to execute /media/cdrom/cdromupgrade: Permission denied

You’ll need to unmount and re-mount the CD as executable (-oexec):
$ umount /media/cdrom0
$ sudo mount -oexec /dev/cdrom /media/cdrom0/

Now… let’s hope the rest of my upgrade goes smoothly – with my (lack of) Linux knowledge, it’s gonna be a long night if it doesn’t…

(Oh, and by the way, you’re supposed to run the upgrade when you’re logged in normally – I was under the impression that you have to boot from the alternate CD for some reason…  But I guess if you’ve found this page, you’ve already got that part right…)

Possible NetBeans space insertion bug with tab indentation (?)

NetBeans 6 logo
Hum… it seems there may be a rather annoying tab indentation bug with NetBeans 6…

The problem occurs when you are editing a JSP / HTML file with tab indentation (instead of spaces), and you create a new element on the next line, an extra space is added to the beginning of that new line, making the file look something like below:

<html>
    <head>
        <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">
        <title>JSP Page</title>
    </head>
    <body>
        <h2>Hello World!</h2>
		<div>div1</div>
		 <div>div2</div>
		  <div>div3</div>
		   <div>div4</div>
		<% // Some scriptlet (tab level manually reset on this line) %>
		 <div>another div</div>
		  <%-- Some comment --%>
    </body>
</html>
